OUR WINERY

“The land speaks to us and we listen.”

The Valdamonte winery owns 21 hectares of land, 15 of which are planted with vines in the municipalities of Santa Maria della Versa and Rovescala in Oltrepò Pavese, Lombardy. The winery is located at a medium altitude on the hills the Versa Valley in Valdamonte, one of the many hamlets near the town of Santa Maria della Versa

The winery, owned by the Fiori family since the early XX century, is now run by young Alberto. In 2009, after receiving his oenology degree, he stopped selling his grapes to the local wine cooperatives and began producing wine from his own grapes.

Our vineyards are all located on the top of the hills at an altitude between 300 and 370 m AMSL.
This peculiarity gives marked fresh and sapid sensations to our wines.
The main grapes grown are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Croatina and Barbera.

Our vineyard management practices include: Guyot pruning (12 buds per cane) and grass cover-cropping. We aim at reducing the production of grapes per vine and to prevent the erosion of the soil and the loss of its precious organic substances. We’ve been using only copper and sulphur for anti-fungal treatments and pyrethrum for anti-insects treatments for several years now.

In 2017 we opened our agriturismo to let you taste our wines paired with local salumi and cheese and a traditional cuisine. The agriturismo is run by Carola, Alberto’s wife.
