347 M.S.L.M. Crinale di Levante

Oltrepò Pavese DOC Riesling

The Riesling Crinale di Levante comes from the highest parcel of a vineyard located in the municipality of Santa Maria della Versa (the same of the 347 Bianco).

The vineyard sits on the top of a hill overlooking the Versa Valley which is the most eastern crest of Oltrepò Pavese, marking the border with the province of Piacenza. That’s why we chose to call it Crinale di Levante (the Eastern crest).

The parcel we selected is characterised by high levels of chalk and limestone and a steep slope. The composition of the soil gives a mineral and sapid character to the wine, while the favourable orientation of the vineyard enhances its structure and depth.

The harvest is done in mid-September. The grapes are hand-picked and put in 17-18 kg plastic boxes to preserve them during the transfer to the winery, where they are gently pressed.

The nose offers thyme, rosemary, white flowers and hints of the classic Riesling notes of petrol and flint.

On palate the sapidity and minerality pair very well with the good body and the remarkable acidity, offering a vibrant and deep tasting experience. Long finish.

Enjoy it at a 10-12 °C temperature with fish or a platter of fresh or medium-aged cheese.
